Steven D. Hobman Mr. Hobman is a General Partner of NewSpring Capital with more than 30 years of experience in the financing of middle-market and growth-stage companies. He has provided more than $500 million in such financing to these companies. He was a commercial banker for 20 years at Meridian Bank, Progress Bank, and Comerica Bank. He founded TechBanc, the venture lending division of Progress Bank, which was purchased by Comerica Bank in 2002. He also co-founded Ben Franklin/Progress Capital Fund, L.P. in 1997 and NewSpring Ventures, L.P. in 1999, a Participating Securities licensed SBIC. Mr. Hobman co-founded NewSpring Mezzanine Capital in 2004. He is on the board of directors of Neighborhood Health Agencies, Inc., Bringing Hope Home, American Compliance Systems, Inc., CODi, and Thermacore, Inc. Mr. Hobman is also on the Board of Governors for the Small Business Investor Alliance and Vice President of the Northeast region of the SBIA. He holds an A.B. from Franklin and Marshall College and an MBA from West Chester University.

Kyle Nelson is a manager with Ernst & Young’s State and Local Tax Practice in Philadelphia with over six years of public accounting experience.

Kyle is a 2011 graduate of Temple University’s Beasley School of Law where he focused his coursework on taxation and business law. Prior to attending law school, Kyle worked at a Hartford area regional accounting firm and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Connecticut.

Since joining Ernst & Young, Kyle has gained extensive experience providing clients in a variety of industries with state and local tax consulting services including, but not limited to the implementation of multi-state sales and use and income tax planning strategies, audit defense and process reviews.

David Spiegel

David is a Manager within the Philadelphia Assurance practice. David has more than 5 years of public accounting experience with EY and has served numerous public and private clients, ranging from small private companies to Fortune 50 public registrants, including multinational technology, pharmaceutical distribution, manufacturing, and telecommunications companies. His significant clients served include AmerisourceBergen Corporation, Qlik, iPipeline, Alteva, and operating companies owned by the Berwind Corporation. David also has a wide array of accounting, auditing, SEC reporting and transaction experience, including assisting with an initial public offering, carve-out/spin-offs, initial audits, and numerous business combinations for public and private companies.

David is active within EY’s Philadelphia office, participating in the Entrepreneur of the Year program, leading auditing and accounting trainings for younger employees, and other office initiatives. David earned his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Maryland and holds his license as a Certified Public Accountant with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
