Pennsylvania Treasury and CBS 3 Philadelphia help viewers claim their cash!
Thousands of Southeastern Pennsylvania residents caught CBS 3 Consumer Reporter Jim Donovan broadcasting live from the Pennsylvania Treasury’s Vault in Harrisburg on Thursday, February 10 – one component of a successful day-long effort to return property to viewers.

To help its viewers find their unclaimed property, CBS 3 aired three separate segments over a thirty-six hour period. First, the station ran Jim Donovan’s taped story on unclaimed property during its Wednesday evening broadcasts. The next day, Jim spoke with me live in the Vault, and the station scrolled the names of hundreds of people with unclaimed property on a crawl throughout the day.

On Thursday alone, our Bureau of Unclaimed Property fielded more than 3,800 calls and generated 4,300 claims totaling $1.9 million. But we didn’t stop there – by the afternoon of Tuesday, February 15, we reached a total of 12,233 claims totaling more than $5.79 million. I’m thrilled that even in the days following the CBS 3 coverage, Southeastern Pennsylvania residents continued to claim their cash.

I offer a big thank you to Jim Donovan for providing this important public service to his viewers (and we had a blast working with him).

Remember, even if you don’t live in the Philadelphia area – you might have unclaimed property. We estimate that one in 10 Pennsylvanians do. Treasury is currently seeking the owners of nearly $2 billion in unclaimed property – nearly $304 million in Southeastern Pennsylvania alone! So visit www.patreasury.gov or call 1-800-222-2046. We want to help all Pennsylvanians claim what is theirs.

Thanks again for your interest.

Yours with appreciation,
